Gunner is a stoic standardbred gelding that endured a lot of suffering before his rescue from the kill pen. As is common of the standardbreds we find in the pen, he came unsure of accepting love and affection and defensive of his space. He has relaxed and settled well and is starting to love a good grooming/scratches and having friends to play with!

Health and Care: Though we don’t know exactly what happened to Gunner before his rescue, it is obvious he had some sort of injury to his pelvis- most likely from a cart accident. Due to this and previous trauma to the tendons in his hind legs, he is a companion only horse. He is now comfortable on daily equioxx with no other special care or management needed.

Suitable For: With the addition of daily equioxx, Gunner is much more comfortable and much happier in general. He loves living with both mares and geldings and is really bonding with a few playful geldings that enjoy mutual grooming and sharing hay piles. He has no dietary concerns and can be managed on grass or dry lot.

Enjoys: It has taken time, but Gunner has really come to enjoy a good wither/neck scratch and a quiet grooming session. He also loves his time with friendly geldings that want to share their space and feed.
