The GER team is always looking for volunteers - as little as an hour a week makes a difference. No horse experience needed!
Stall cleaning & feeding are the bulk of daily chores. 2 hours of volunteer help a day allows the full-time staff to focus on horse care.
Sometimes we spend so much time chorin' we don't get as much time with each of our horses as we wish. Grooming, hand grazing, leading, stretching, enrichment activities & training are all needed activities.
Barns are dirty! We keeps ours in tip-top shape. Regular cleaning is always welcome: dusting, windows, cleaning tack, washing water troughs, etc.
Do you have carpentry, electrical, plumbing, landscape, painting, motor repair or other skills you can share with us? We have 4 barns and miles of fence that need regular attention. We are particularly in need of someone that can keep up with of regular maintenance for our tractor, UTV, and ATV, since we depend on these each day.
How about admin or business skills? Organizing fundraisers, grant writing, website support, public relations, are all tasks that can be done after hours and remotely. We also need retail assistance raising funds through our onsite Tack Shack.
A foster barn is perfect for horses requiring a quiet location, additional TLC, or more time to gain weight. Not quite ready to add a permanent member to your herd? Maybe your companion needs a companion when you take your trail horse out for the summer? This may be for you!
If you're interested in volunteering with GER, please send an email to email@example.com.
All volunteers must fill out & sign the below application and release before starting work at the barn. Thank you for your support!
GER has extra blankets for local horse owners that need help providing blankets for winter - no questions asked!
We know there are differing opinions about blanketing, but we are very aware of what it means to have older or compromised horses in VT. We want to help!
Anyone that needs assistance should email firstname.lastname@example.org with size & blanket weight. Owners must be able to pick up at the rescue; instructions will be sent once we confirm we have what you need.
If you want to donate a CLEAN, UNRIPPED blanket, please also email and we'll send instructions for drop-off.
